Changing the narrative.

FICTIONZ is a narrative podcast studio that produces premium narrative podcasts based on award-winning short stories, screenplays, and novels written and directed by diverse perspectives and voices.

Fictionz was created out of a combustion of many things including a love of fiction, and a heartfelt desire to “change the narrative” by highlighting stories that meet the diverse, smarter, and more inclusive future of entertainment. Our mission is to produce content that is wildly entertaining as well as reflective of the world around us.

BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and women are often underrepresented, misrepresented, and stereotyped in mainstream stories. The world is a rich tapestry of experiences and it’s important for everyone to see themselves in the stories they consume. It’s vital to share the work of people in marginalized groups who are creating content from their own day-to-day lived-in experiences. As we diversify the stories we read and tell, different perspectives not only help us grow as a society, but aid in expanding our world view and inspire our own work to become more inclusive. There are so many incredible writers and creators changing the landscape of mainstream fiction, movies, series and podcasts. They are giving life to stories that have previously been pushed to the side. We are excited to showcase them here.

“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.

Haruki Murakami

When we're talking about diversity, it's not a box to check. It is a reality that should be deeply felt and held and valued by all of us.”

Ava DuVernay

Anon, who wrote so many poems without signing them, was often a woman.

“We have to stop thinking about diversity and start thinking about inclusion. That's what you can take from August Wilson. That there are whole cultures out there living experiences exactly like yours, and their stories can be just as dynamic, sold in the foreign market, put as many butts in the seats as any Caucasian movie out there.

Viola Davis

All cultures and peoples turn to poetry during times of celebration, transformation, and challenge—those times when ordinary language cannot carry meaning beyond our understanding.
